What a generator does that a template does not
A downloaded template is a blank page you still have to fill in correctly, every time. A generator remembers, calculates and files.
It remembers your details
Your ABN, address, logo, payment terms and bank details are entered once and applied to every document after that.
It does the arithmetic
Line totals, subtotal, GST at 10% and the amount due are calculated as you type. There is no formula to break.
It keeps the numbering straight
Each invoice gets a unique sequential number, so you are never guessing what the last one was.
It stores your customers
Customer names, ABNs and addresses are saved and reused, so the second invoice to a client takes seconds.
It sends and records
Email the invoice from InvoiceGen and it is logged against the customer, with a PDF copy kept in your account.
It keeps you compliant
The required fields are part of the form, so a valid tax invoice is the default rather than something you have to check.
What the generator puts on your invoice
Every invoice InvoiceGen produces carries the fields an Australian tax invoice needs, in a layout a bookkeeper will recognise immediately. The example alongside shows a GST-registered business invoicing a commercial customer for more than $1,000 — the case with the most requirements.

Raising an invoice, start to finish
Choose the customer
Pick an existing customer or add a new one. Their details, including ABN, are stored for next time.
Add the line items
Select saved products and services or type in one-off work. Quantities and prices flow through to the totals.
Send or download
Email it directly to the customer, or download the PDF. Either way a copy stays in your account against that customer.
Invoice generator, invoice maker, invoice creator — same job
These names all describe the same thing: a tool that turns what you did for a customer into a document that asks them to pay for it. What matters is not the label but whether the finished document holds up.
In Australia that means two things. First, if you are registered for GST, the document has to be a valid tax invoice or your customer cannot claim the GST credit — and they will ask you to reissue it. Second, you have to keep a copy. The ATO requires most business records to be kept for at least five years, and an invoice you emailed from a laptop you no longer own does not count for much.
InvoiceGen handles both. The generator produces a compliant document, and every invoice you raise stays in your account with the customer it was sent to.
When a generator beats a spreadsheet
Spreadsheet invoicing works right up until it does not. The formula in the GST column gets overwritten, two invoices end up with the same number, last quarter's file is on a machine that has been replaced, or the template a former bookkeeper built is missing a field nobody noticed. None of these are dramatic failures. They are the quiet kind that surface at tax time.
A generator removes the class of problem rather than the individual mistakes, because the arithmetic, the numbering and the storage are not yours to get wrong.

Frequently asked questions
How does an online invoice generator work?
You enter your business details once, then for each job you add the customer, the line items and the amounts. The generator applies the correct layout, calculates GST and totals, assigns an invoice number, and produces a finished document you can email or download as a PDF. Nothing is installed and nothing is formatted by hand.
Is there a limit on how many invoices I can create?
No. There is no cap on invoices, quotes, orders, customers or products, and no monthly allowance to run out of. InvoiceGen is free to use with no time limit.
Can I put my own logo on the invoice?
Yes. Upload your logo once in your business settings and it appears on every invoice and quote you issue from then on, along with your business name, ABN and address.
Does the invoice generator calculate GST for me?
Yes. If your account is set to GST registered, the generator adds 10% GST, shows it as a separate amount, and marks the taxable status of each line. If you are not registered, GST is left off entirely and the document is labelled as an invoice rather than a tax invoice.
Can I create an invoice on my phone?
Yes. InvoiceGen runs in a mobile browser, so you can raise and send an invoice from a job site as soon as the work is finished rather than waiting until you are back at a desk.
What invoice number should I use?
InvoiceGen assigns a sequential number automatically, which is what the ATO expects — a unique identifying number on each invoice. You can override it if you are continuing a numbering series from an older system.
